About us

Our long-established reputation has been earned by supplying only the highest quality meat to independent retail and catering butchers. This consistently high standard is achieved by buying only prime local stock, specifically bred and raised for the quality of their meat.


In addition to raising animals on our own farms, we buy our livestock from farmers in the North East and North Yorkshire. This keeps the food chain as short as possible – from the farm, to us, to you– simple.


Our fresh meat is sourced only from prime cattle (under 30 months), sheep and pigs. We don't take any redundant breeding or dairy animals, including cull cows, ewes, tups (rams), sows and boars. We supply sides and quarters of prime beef, whole lamb and pork carcases along with a full range of boxed primal cuts produced in our cutting facility. Premium is standard at Thompsons and in addition we have a unique range of meats including rare breed pork from Welsh breed pigs.
